When Jesus was preparing to die on the cross, His disciples were very sad. They had grown to love Jesus and recognized Him as the Messiah they had been waiting for! Suddenly now they were about to lose the very one who had been so close to their heart. But in this moment of intense sadness, Jesus encouraged them. He was sending them another helper to be with them while they waited for His return. He was sending us the Holy Spirit.

In John 14 Jesus describes the Holy Spirit. He would be a helper, a comforter, an encourager, a guide in this crazy world, and if we called on God, He promised to fill us with His power.

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is one of the most incredible gifts God has given us. In troubled times, we can call on Him and know that He is there to help us in ANY situation. He gives us the wisdom we need when we don’t know what to do and He empowers us to do supernatural things we could never do by ourselves. Tonight, just rest in the fact that as a Christian, you are NOT alone – the Holy Spirit is with you now and forever.
