Serving Guidelines
Purpose – Greet new and returning attenders to church with genuine joy and gratitude to see them coming to church!
• Be sure to ALWAYS be FOCUSED on the DOORS (do this by ALWAYS keeping your body positioned toward the front doors). Be friendly with others but be careful of being distracted by conversations. God is relying on YOU!
• Be sure to welcome everyone with a smile and the love of God!
• Distribute Bulletin + Handouts + Offering Envelopes (these materials will be found at our welcome center)
• If someone looks new, be sure to ask them our special phrase, “So, how long have you been coming to Victory Church?” Their answer will let you know if it’s their first time or not! If this is their first time, use this as an opportunity to LEARN THEIR NAME and then INTRODUCE them to a Welcome Host.
• Remember to slip out after the service (during announcement) to hold doors for people as they leave.
Please pick up and return face-shields and any other materials to the welcome center. Be sure to sanitize anything that needs it. Notify the Welcome Team leader of any supplies needs!
Purpose – Welcomes new families, offers information, and tours them through the facility.
• Be sure to welcome EVERYONE with a smile and the love of God!
• Show genuine interest in who they are. Learn and use their names. Ask questions like: Are you from the area? How long have you been in town? Have you been to church before? Etc.
• Ask them if they had any specific questions about the church.
• Give them New Person materials (Welcome Card, Connect Card, any other supplied materials)
• Tour through the facility (show bathrooms, children’s ministries/ nursery (if they have children), youth room / fellowship hall, church office (mention office hours), and Sanctuary)
• Guide them to the seat assignments table (during COVID social distancing season) and introduce them to that volunteer OR to an usher (once social distancing is lifted) and introduce them to help find them find a seat.
• Text the Welcome Team Leader about every new family (Include names, if they have children, any relevant info about them.)
• Follow up with new families after service if possible. Ask how they enjoyed the service and if they would like to meet the pastor [if available] or welcome team leader.
Please pick up and return face-shields and any other materials to the welcome center. Be sure to sanitize anything that needs it. Notify the Welcome Team leader of any supplies needs!
Purpose – Takes families’ temperatures as they enter to ensure safety during this temporary season.
• Be welcoming and friendly! Simply ask, “May I take your temperature?” (Since this is a sensitive issue for many individuals, avoid any potentially offensive comments like “stick ‘em up”, “you know the drill”, etc. Our goal is to keep the process classy and professional.)
• Take temperatures on the wrist.
• If the individual refuses simply notify the welcome team leader and they will handle it from there.
• If an individual tests 99 degrees or higher on the wrist, ask to take a 2nd reading on the forehead. If the forehead reads 100 degrees or higher, let the individual know that they have tested as having a temperature, that one of our safety team can talk with them more, and ask them to wait patiently in the front lobby till the safety team member arrives. (Proceed to notify the nearest usher who can get ahold of either Chad Neuroth or Pastor Joe.)
• Notify Pastor Joe if the sensor is having any issues
Please pick up and return face-shields and any other materials to the welcome center. Be sure to sanitize anything that needs it. Notify the Welcome Team leader of any supplies needs!
Purpose – showing courtesy for our regular attenders and guests by standing outside before service to hold doors open for families as they enter.
• YOUR job is VERY important… by holding doors open for others, you show that we are a ministry that values people and that we are a church of excellence.
• Be sure to watch for people coming from your assigned side (or both sides if managing both sets of doors alone)
